Karnataka Health Promotion Trust (KHPT) is a charitable entity that spearheads evidence-driven, systematically planned and rigorously implemented initiatives to improve the health and wellbeing of communities in India. Their work encompasses tuberculosis, maternal, neonatal and child health, adolescent health, and comprehensive primary healthcare among a diverse set of communities.
How we support them
The grant from Ashraya Hastha Trust strengthens the Sphoorthi project in Surpur and Hunasgi taluks in Karnataka where they work extensively with rural adolescent girls, their parents, the community, village-level functionaries, and grassroots organizations to change gender norms and bring about positive change.

The project aims to:

1
Ensure school continuation among peer girls and completion of secondary school education among role model girls.
2
Improve self-esteem, agency, and parent-daughter relationships among role model and peer girls.
3
Increase girls’ abilities to participate in decision-making around their education and marriage.
4
Increase nutrition levels in girls.
